Verizon iPhone Vs. AT&T iPhone – Dropped Call Battle of Los Angeles facebook.com I decided to try the NY Times tech columnist David Pogue’s dropped call test with the Verizon iPhone and the AT&T iPhone in LA. I drove around Los Angeles from downtown to the beach for about 2 hours calling Mr. Moviefone simultaneously on a Verizon and an AT&T iPhone 4. If you are thinking about getting an iPhone or are choosing a wireless carrier, you will be interested in the results.
3/31/2010- AT&T (NYSE:T) is looking to reduce its dropped calls and speed up Web-surfing before Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) releases a new version of the iPhone that will be able to run on Verizon’s (NYSE:VZ) network, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The carrier’s executives set up a 100-day plan in December to improve its network in densely-populated cities, according to people familiar with the matter. Since then, AT&T has added new network spectrum to better handle traffic, repositioned antennas to improve reception and wired more neighborhood cell towers with faster connections. Chief technology officer John Donovan said that AT&T “is managing volumes that no one else has experienced.” It has improved service in big-city markets and expects “continued improvement in those markets in the coming months.”
